Heading home we decided to stay in the Vicksburg area after driving all week from Texas to Virginia and back. I had called to make sure they had a room available. Upon arriving the Valet was friendly and brought us a luggage cart. However when we reach the front desk we had to wait as she was busy with the gift shop area register. We proceeded to our room and noticed a sign by the elevator that said pardon our dust. Ok we understand that things have to be updated from time to time. Our room was in the area being renovated. Not a good impression. Now understand we have been driving for 16 hours and were exhausted and hungry. We took a shower (the shower head was loose so we had to carefully move it to position it for us) and put on fresh clothes and headed down for dinner. We had 2 choices, 1) a buffet which was featuring steak that day, or 2) a place which seemed to serve what I like to refer to as 'sports bar' type of food with a daily special of roast beef. We unfortunately went with the buffet. After paying over $52.00 for the both of us and seeing what was on the buffet line we knew it was a mistake. I am more adventurous of trying things but my husband is not. He tried the vegetable soup looked like it was made from whatever was being thrown out off the buffet and yesterdays roast beef. The lobster bisque was more of can tomatoe soup ground up pieces of what I would hope was lobster. I tried the medium cooked steak which apparently has been sitting out on a warming grill for quite some time. It was well done. The vegetables seemed to all have been frozen or canned. Nothing was fresh. I had held out some hope for the desserts. Again frozen or prepackaged. My husband opted for the cherry cobbler and was going to put vanilla ice cream on it. The ice cream machine only had chocolate and strawberry flavors. The only constellation to this whole meal experience was our waiter. He was very friendly and attentative. Oh and they did give us $5 dollars each in free play in the casino. We went to the casino and many of the slots didnt work or could not read the card we had to use to get the free $5 to play. We were very tired and decide to go to our room and just relax and watch TV before going to bed. Upon entering our room none of the lights would turn on. We were advised that a storm had moved through the area while we were in the casino and caused a tree to fall on some power lines. This seemed rather weird to us as the casino, the elevators, lobby area and the hallways on our floor all had power. We understand they were not responsible for what happened due to the storm, but rather the lack of concern for our safety. We were told by the front desk and a maintenance man that it was not their problem. We asked if they had a flashlight so we could at least maneuver around of room without getting injured tripping over furniture. She advise that they didnt. We asked why it is that everything else was working but not the lights in our room. She advised the those items are on a backup generator. Our suggestion is that while they are doing the renovations that they put a security light in the rooms so if the power does go out guest will have to the ability to see in their rooms.

Was looking forward to spending Memorial Day weekend with my husband for our 25th anniversary at the Riverwalk Casino, but I was nothing but disappointed. We had tried to get reservations at the larger casino but they were full, so we decided to try out the newest casino in town. It is small, no valet help when you check in, the bed is hard ( I had read that in a review and I dont mind, I like hard beds for my back) but they are hard, and the walls are Paper thin, you can hear everything in the rooms next to you. We were on the third floor and I was looking forward to a nice view of the Mississippi, but got a nice view of the casino roof instead. We got our players cards when we checked in and used them (or tried to use them) in the slots, but half the time they wouldnt take them for some reason and then when we checked out and went to see if we had enough points for any perks, they didnt even show that we had played on the night before, when I had played craps and my husband had played blackjack. They told us to go ask the floor manager, which we did, and she showed that we had played, but she had to call the desk and tell them that we had played, etc, etc., and even though they had messed up, we still didnt qualify for anything. Which normally would have been ok, except that they obviously have a problem keeping up with the card points and they obviously dont care because they were not the least bit concerned. SO, needless to say, we wont be back there again, next time we will stay at the bigger, nicer casino where they try to take care of their paying customers. And, by the way, we payed premium rates for our room over Memorial Day weekend. They must need the money. Oh, we also ate at their seafood buffet, which was ok, but for the money, the ambience could have been a whole lot nicer.

I had a funny and great experience. Short story the box spring was upside down. The bed was the most uncomfortable thing ever. Until we flipped the box spring over and all was right with the world. Mentioned to the front desk that if it looked like we had flipped the bed over, we had... Immediately was apologized too and and several key taps I was informed that we couldn’t be discounted because we had paid in full online. Couple more key taps maybe she could credit something. I jokingly said two buffet vouchers and we will call it even, I was immediately rushed to the VIP Services Manager Linda. Linda is a freaking hoot. We laughed over the whole situation and I was informed Sunday that the menu was Chicken, chicken, chicken, chicken and chicken. The southern style buffet was amazing. And the chicken did not disappoint. All staff was courteous and grounds well maintained. My favorite part was the job offer from the general manager in my email the next day. Just goes to show you, you get much farther with Sugar instead of salt.Linda, Ginny, and front desk lady I didn’t catch your name, you guys are awesome. Oh kitchen staff....

We cant complain. I received two free nights here and decided to give Riverwalk a try. I have spent $0 in a two day venture. The staff at the hotel is very professional and helpful. Our conceirge, Pamela, was extremely helpful, fill of wit, and just an angel. If you get the chance, stop in and say hello. Great place. Kudos, Riverwalk.06/30/2016After staying at Riverwalk a few times and thinking things were great, I called today some it was the end of the month to check and see what type of freebies the casino had to offer me. After connecting with Becky (director of VIP) I was transferred to the head of security who told me that I was no longer welcome on their peppery and would not give me a reason why. Seems curious. Just thought I would share. My rating will stay the same because I feel that this was a mistake.
